Maria Heo is a Vancouver based textile artist in 1000 Parker Street Studio. She spent her early years on a beautiful, subtropical island, where she was born, off the Southern most coast of South Korea and drew inspiration from its natural allure. She completed her Fine Arts Undergraduate Degree in oil painting and continued on with textile art for her Masters. She has been investing her time into many solo and group exhibitions, art shows.,and open studios. She also has 22 years of teaching experience with a multitude of dedicated students at schools and her studio.
When I first came to Canada, I was in complete awe of its natural bounty and beauty. The landscape and atmospheric sublimity caught me off guard and unknowingly, I was hooked. My art began to take shape of my newfound obsession with the great Canadian outdoors. The roaring cascades, crisp moon, delicate bird nests, lush forests, robust rain and budding flowers all awoke deep inspiration in me. In my palette are earthy colors from Eastern and Western inspiration.
